The unplug test
Press START with no phone anywhere nearby and the cuff inflates, measures, and shows systolic, diastolic and pulse on the monitor's own display exactly as it would paired. Nothing about taking a reading requires Bluetooth, an app, or an account. What is genuinely different from a plain dumb monitor: this device has no button-accessible memory or recall function of its own. Up to 30 readings are held in an internal buffer purely so they can be pushed to a phone the next time one connects — without ever using the A&D Connect app, you see this reading once, on the display, for about a minute before the monitor auto-shuts-off, and then it is gone to you (though not erased from the buffer). The manual itself tells the reader to 'remove the cuff and record your data' by hand.
Why this tier: The manufacturer's own instruction manual documents a Bluetooth Low Energy radio used only to push readings to the free 'A&D Connect' app and its optional cloud account; the monitor completes a measurement and displays systolic, diastolic and pulse on its own screen with no pairing, app, or account of any kind, and pairing is opt-in and revocable from the monitor's own buttons.

Open questions
- Does launching the A&D Connect app for the first time force account creation before it will pair with the monitor at all, or can it store data locally on the phone without a cloud login? This decides whether account_required should be 'app_only' (as filed) or 'none'. Not confirmed — the app's own store listing could not be fetched.
- FCC grant for the Bluetooth module was not looked up; the manual's own explicit description of the BLE radio was treated as sufficient primary evidence of its presence, so the FCC step was skipped to conserve search budget rather than because it was inconclusive.
- Firmware update mechanism and whether it can be declined: not documented in the sections read.
- Current US price band not established.
- The manufacturer's product page names the companion app 'A&D Heart Track' while A&D's own app page names 'A&D Connect'. Both are A&D services and either way a nameable vendor cloud exists, so the D2 call is unaffected, but the record should name whichever app actually pairs with this SKU today.
