The unplug test
The door still opens. The wall button and the RF visor remote are hardwired and radio-paired to the opener, and neither has ever touched the internet. What you lose is everything Chamberlain added on top: the built-in camera goes dark, the myQ app cannot open the door from your phone, and you get no notifications that the door was left up. The battery backup still works. In short: you bought a garage door opener with a cloud camera bolted on, and unplugging the router leaves you with a garage door opener.
Why this tier: Core function — opening and closing the door — runs entirely from the included wall control panel and 3-button RF remote with no network at all, and no account is needed to install the opener. - Can firmware updates be declined on this model? This is the field that decides whether D2 is stable, and it is not documented in any source found.
- What does the opener transmit to Chamberlain when connected? No traffic analysis found.
- FCC grant not yet pulled — should be recorded to confirm the exact Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios.
