Nothing changes. The X100VI is a physical camera first: shutter, dials, and the SD card slot do everything a photographer needs, with no pairing step required. Turn off WiFi and Bluetooth entirely and you lose exactly two things — pushing images to a phone over the XApp, and the optional Timeline/Activity log, which is the one feature that needs a Fujifilm account (signed in via Facebook, Apple, or Google). The camera also natively supports Frame.io Camera to Cloud for instant delivery, which is a third-party service you opt into separately and never touches the camera unless you set it up.
Why this tier: The camera shoots, adjusts every setting, and writes to its SD card with no phone, app, or network involved at all. Fujifilm's own XApp page states wireless image transfer, remote control, and settings backup/restore work directly between camera and phone with no account — but its Timeline/Activity features require signing in to 'Fujifilm network service' via Facebook/Apple/Google, and the camera separately supports Frame.io Camera to Cloud natively. Because a vendor-reachable cloud exists for this device (Fujifilm's own network service, plus native Frame.io), this is D2 rather than D1, even though core photography never touches it.

Open questions
- Current US price could not be confirmed from a fetchable manufacturer or retailer page within budget; this camera has also seen extended availability shortages and above-MSRP retailer pricing since launch, so a band was not recorded rather than guessed.
- Whether basic Bluetooth/WiFi pairing to the XApp itself (as opposed to the Timeline/Activity feature specifically) ever prompts for Fujifilm account sign-in was not fully confirmed — the manufacturer's page reads as though only Timeline/Activity requires it, but this should be verified against the app's actual pairing flow.
- Whether firmware updates can be declined, and what telemetry the camera or app sends to Fujifilm, are unconfirmed.
- FCC check not performed — not required for a D2 tier claim, but would be worth doing if this record is later reconsidered.
