The unplug test
Nothing changes. The switch has no network connection to lose — it only ever speaks USB and VGA to the two computers plugged into it. Pressing the physical button, or the one on the 6-foot remote cable, toggles which machine gets the shared keyboard, mouse, and monitor. There is no app, no account, and no firmware update path of any kind.
Why this tier: Manufacturer's own product page and datasheet describe a USB-bus-powered, cable-based 2-port KVM switch: 'No software drivers required — simply connect the cables to the computers,' no power adapter needed, and switching is done with a physical remote button on a wired cable. IOGEAR's parent, ATEN Technology (FCC grantee code QLE), files intentional-radiator grants for the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters it sells under the IOGEAR brand, and no such grant exists for the GCS22U, consistent with a device that contains no radio.
