Audio & Video / powered speaker
Kanto YU4
D1 Local Only — Speaks only to hardware you control.
The unplug test
There is no router in this speaker's life to begin with. It takes a turntable, a phone over Bluetooth, or a TV over optical, and turns it into sound from a knob and a remote. Nothing about it changes whether your network exists or not, because nothing on it ever asked for one.
Why this tier: The YU4's FCC grant (QKH-KANTOYU4) is filed simply as a 'Bluetooth Speaker' covering Bluetooth classic and BLE test modes — there is no Wi-Fi grant, and the rear panel's only inputs are RCA, 3.5mm AUX, two optical digital inputs, a USB charge-only port, and Bluetooth. The full 12-page user manual documents pairing, input selection, bass/treble/balance and standby entirely through the front-panel knob and included IR remote, with no app, no account, and no network step anywhere. A search for a Kanto companion app for this model turns up none — Kanto sells no software for the YU4 at all, so there is no vendor cloud for it to phone even if it wanted to.

Open questions
- Price not confirmed this run — left null rather than spend search budget on it, per project policy.
- Did not independently verify Kanto's full product-support site for an absence of any account system company-wide (e.g. a warranty-registration portal); the absence of an app specifically for the YU4, and the FCC grant showing no Wi-Fi module, are the load-bearing facts for D1 rather than a claim that Kanto operates no cloud anywhere in its business.
