Konnected Alarm Panel Pro 12-Zone Conversion Kit
D2 Cloud-Optional — Full function with the router off.
The unplug test
The panel keeps reading every wired zone and driving sirens, strobes, and relay outputs exactly as before, because that logic runs on the board's own ESP32 and whatever local hub (Home Assistant, Hubitat) it is paired to. What stops working is anything routed through Konnected Cloud: the SmartThings/Alexa bridge integration and the remote firmware-customization service. If it was set up and is being run through Home Assistant or ESPHome rather than the Konnected app's cloud features, disconnecting the router changes nothing you would notice.
Why this tier: Konnected operates a named optional cloud service (Konnected Cloud) that bridges the panel to Alexa/SmartThings and offers a firmware-customization service, but Konnected's own support documentation states plainly that 'all Konnected devices work fully without Konnected Cloud, giving you complete local control,' and the core function (reading wired alarm zones, driving sirens/strobes/switches) runs on the board itself over its documented Home Assistant, Hubitat, ESPHome, and Matter integrations. Wi-Fi credentialing can be done from a local browser via the device's own captive portal (192.168.4.1) with no app; a Konnected account is only required to reach Konnected Cloud, not to provision the board or use it through a self-hosted smart-home platform.

Open questions
- Whether launching the Konnected mobile app itself forces a login screen before local Wi-Fi provisioning/discovery, or only gates the Cloud-specific screens, was not confirmed by a source that shows the app's actual first-run flow; the captive-portal article implies local setup can bypass the app entirely by discovering the device through Home Assistant/ESPHome instead, which is the basis for account_required: app_only rather than for_setup.
- 'phones_home' is set to 'analytics' as a conservative default for a Wi-Fi device with an optional cloud bridge; no source was found describing exactly what telemetry, if any, the board sends when Konnected Cloud is not enabled.

Manufacturer support article states Konnected Cloud is optional ('All Konnected devices work fully without Konnected Cloud, giving you complete local control'), names what it adds (Alexa/SmartThings bridging, device-customization/firmware service), and states a Konnected account is created specifically 'to use Konnected Cloud' via the app, not to operate the device locally. — accessed 2026-09-14 - A https://support.konnected.io/connecting-to-wifi-using-a-web-browser-captive-portal
Manufacturer support article documents provisioning Wi-Fi credentials entirely from a local browser at the device's own captive-portal address (192.168.4.1), with no Konnected app or account involved in that step, then discovering the device either in the Konnected app 'or your smart home platform' (e.g. Home Assistant/ESPHome). — accessed 2026-09-14 - A https://support.konnected.io/konnected-alarm-panel-pro-technical-specifications
Manufacturer technical specification page: confirms the radio hardware is an ESP32-WROOM-32D module (802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth v4.2 BR/EDR and BLE), lists the wired Ethernet/PoE+ option, and records FCC ID 2AC7Z-ESPWROOM32D and Industry Canada ID 21098-ESPWROOM32D for the radio module. — accessed 2026-09-14 - A https://support.konnected.io/product-introduction
