The unplug test
It still blows air and treats you all night. Therapy pressure, the AutoSet algorithm, the humidifier and the mask fit alarm all run on the machine itself and do not care whether the cellular modem has signal. What you lose is the parts that involve someone else: your provider's AirView dashboard stops updating, myAir's coaching screens and streak tracking stop, and your provider can no longer push a pressure change to the machine remotely. Every night's detailed data still records internally and, on the AutoSet, to an SD card you can read yourself.
Why this tier: The machine ships with a built-in cellular modem and Bluetooth that reach ResMed's myAir and AirView cloud, but setup explicitly offers a path 'with or without the myAir app', and ResMed's own support documentation states therapy delivery does not depend on any connection. Losing connectivity costs remote monitoring, provider-side remote titration, and app-based coaching, not the treatment itself.

Open questions
- Can the AirSense 11's cellular firmware/software updates be declined by the patient, or are they pushed unconditionally over the cellular link? ResMed documentation confirms the machine is 'hardware enabled' for over-the-air updates but does not state whether they are optional.
- Does the base internal memory (365 days of summary data, no SD card) expose any on-device screen for reviewing your own history, or is a phone/app/SD card required to see anything beyond the current session?
- Parts availability and independent repairability were not checked; ResMed CPAP service is normally routed through DME suppliers rather than open retail repair.
