The unplug test
Nothing changes. The door reads the microchip already implanted in your pet (or a supplied RFID collar tag) as they approach and unlocks only for chips you have taught it, entirely on battery power with no home network involved at all. There is no app, no account, no Hub, and no vendor server in this model's path — that infrastructure only exists for the separate 'Connect' product line, which this is not.
Why this tier: The FCC grants filed by the manufacturer (SureFlap Ltd) split cleanly along the product line: the WiFi Hub used by the 'Connect' models holds its own grant for 2.4 GHz WiFi (XO9IHB002), while the cat-flap/pet-door body itself holds a separate grant (XO9DSCF003) covering only 0.126-0.133 MHz, the low-frequency band used to read a passive pet microchip at close range — not a network radio. This base model ships with no Hub and no app: it has a radio (the microchip reader), but the vendor operates no cloud for it and it speaks to nothing but the chip in the animal's neck.

- Current US price band not confirmed — the manufacturer's own product page does not display a price and retailer fetches (Chewy) were rate-limited during research. Worth a follow-up check on Chewy, Amazon, or Petco.
