ThermoWorks Smoke X2 Long-Range Remote BBQ Alarm Thermometer

D1 Local Only — Speaks only to hardware you control.

The unplug test

There is no cloud for this device to be cut off from. The probe transmitter talks directly to its own handheld receiver over a dedicated 915 MHz radio link rated to 1.24 miles line-of-sight — the same link whether your house has internet or not. ThermoWorks explicitly states no WiFi add-on exists for this model, unlike its Signals product line.

Why this tier: Has a radio (FCC grants 2AI67-S2T transmitter and 2AI67-S2R receiver, 902.5-927 MHz proprietary spread-spectrum RF, not WiFi or Bluetooth) that speaks only point-to-point to a receiver the owner holds. ThermoWorks' own support documentation states no app, WiFi, or account exists for this model, and the same grantee separately files WiFi/Bluetooth grants for its connected line (Signals, BLUEDOT) — confirming Smoke X2 is deliberately the non-cloud product in the catalog, not an unfiled oversight.
