Traeger Pro 575 (TFB57GLE / TFB57GZE)

D2 Cloud-Optional — Full function with the router off.

The unplug test

Fill the hopper, flip the power switch, and turn the dial to a temperature: the auger primes, the igniter fires, and the D2 controller holds temperature and runs the full cook cycle exactly as it would connected, because none of that logic lives in the app. If the home network or Traeger's servers are down mid-cook, the grill keeps cooking; only the app's remote view goes dark. What Wi-Fi and an account add is monitoring and adjusting the cook from another room or away from home, in-app recipes and guided cook programs, and push alerts when the cook finishes.

Why this tier: WiFIRE connectivity and a Traeger account exist, but the manufacturer's own product page states the grill's D2 Controller runs full temperature control and cooking on its own dial and display, and lists WiFIRE's contribution as remote monitoring, remote temperature adjustment and app recipes -- features layered on top of, not required for, a cook. Traeger's own burn-in guide confirms this directly rather than by inference: the entire first-use procedure for a WiFIRE grill is given as controller actions, with connecting the app appearing afterwards as a separate prompt. A Traeger account is created only inside the app during Wi-Fi pairing, which is a step you can decline and still cook. Vendor cloud exists, setup completes without it, core function is unaffected: D2.
