Yamaha A-S301
D0 No Radio — No radio at all. It cannot phone home.
The unplug test
Nothing changes, because there was never a router to begin with. This is a stereo integrated amplifier: phono, CD, tuner and line inputs on the back, a volume knob and input selector on the front, speaker terminals for one or two pairs. It has no network interface, no companion app, and no cloud account — it amplifies whatever is plugged into it, the same way it did the day it left the factory.
Why this tier: The manufacturer's own owner's manual diagrams every rear-panel connection — CD, phono (MM), tuner and line analog inputs, optical and coaxial digital inputs, speaker A/B terminals, subwoofer out, and a DC OUT jack that only powers a separate Yamaha AV accessory over a proprietary cable, not a network. No Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, or app is mentioned anywhere in the 40-page manual, and the USA FCC section is only a Part 15 Class B unintentional-radiator notice.

Open questions
- No dedicated FCC intentional-radiator search was run for Yamaha's grantee code, since the manual's own connection diagram and FCC section already establish the device has no radio; a sibling-control search would only be needed if this conclusion were in doubt.
- Confirm current US retail availability at the time of purchase — the A-S301 was showing as backordered at one retailer (Sweetwater) in September 2026 while in stock at others.

Class A is primary (manual, FCC filing, teardown). Class B is corroborated community reporting. Class C is never sufficient alone.

Official Yamaha owner's manual covering the A-S701/A-S501/A-S301 family. The A-S501/A-S301 rear-panel diagram (page 4) shows CD, phono, tuner and line audio jacks, optical and coaxial digital inputs, a DC OUT jack described as powering a separate Yamaha AV accessory, speaker A/B terminals and subwoofer out — no wireless or network interface of any kind. The USA FCC section states compliance with Part 15 Class B for unintentional radiators, not an intentional-radiator grant. — accessed 2026-09-02
